Lunceford scrutinizes the rhetorical strategies used by those speakers and how they tie into their means of persuasion. He examines the harmful effects of using certain persuasive techniques on Americans. He focuses primarily on two gun-rights advocates and their use of violent rhetoric.
Why take away the protection and recreational shooting practices of innocent citizens because others are irresponsible? Gun control laws are a major issue being discussed in the U.S. right now. Some believe that by condemning the availability of firearms to all, criminals and people with mental illnesses will be less likely to attain firearms. However they are then violating the people’s second amendment right, which give them the right to bear arms. Throughout history, especially recently, the question of whether gun control violates the 2nd Amendment has been a question which many people claim they know the answer to, but it may not be that transparent. I believe gun control is constitutional, and it deters crime and makes society safer, meaning I side with the pro-gun control ideas. Within the topic of gun control, there are many factors in which people must take into consideration when proposing an answer such as whether it deters crime, what the economic impact is, and what should be changed. The United States is fast approaching the halfway mark in favor of stricter gun laws; however, the nation still questions the effectiveness of gun control.
Gun control is a major problem/controversy in America right now. People are getting killed and the way they are getting killed is by gun. They blame the gun for the murder, but I mean is it really the guns fault? That’s like saying a guy with no arms or legs was walking on the sidewalk eating something with his arms. Recently, gun control has been involved in places such Missouri, New York, Los Angeles etc.
A controversy that has arisen over the years is gun control, who has the right to have access to guns and how gun control and access tie into violent crimes. After a tragedy, politicians come together to debate gun control policies proposed in response to a shooting. Many people blamed the gun, not the person. Mental health is serious issue, because it leads to a negative public attitude toward person with serious mental illness. However, despite the claims of gun control activists, gun control does not reduce crime; it only leaves law abiding citizens increasingly vulnerable to violent crime, and need to use mental health screening before purchasing a gun/guns.
Gun laws have been around since the 1930s starting with the National Firearms Act in 1934. Since then, there has been a long timeline of domestic terrorist attacks and changes in these laws that have consequently altered the way people view the idea of gun control. The issue of gun control is very controversial and involves many political and social perspectives. Gun laws are often debated due to ideas of violence and self defense. The basis of any gun control argument can often be linked to the concept of the second amendment which states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
One of the most talked about topics in the United States today deals with Second Amendment Rights, especially as it relates to gun control. Just because guns are known by some people as a dangerous entity, they could also save the American people from danger. In light of the Sandy Hook incident, it begs the question: would teachers carrying firearms have helped? Ultimately, concealed weapons would have saved more lives than it took that particular day. The Second Amendment has “focused on whether it protects the right of individuals to keep and bear arms, or a right that can be exercised only through militia organization like the National Guard” (Lund and Winkler 1).
Gun control has been a national issue for decades, if not centuries. The founding fathers created the Second Amendment that protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. This amendment was passed as part of the Bill of Rights and simply recognizing something that has existed or will continue to exist in the future. It was also another check on the government, if the people had no weapons to rebel against them, the government can oppress them easily and would make it easier for the government to assemble militia in a time of war. This Second Amendment doesn’t also mean that the people can’t have some measure of control in these extremely dangerous weapons.
Two things that do not go hand in hand with one another is Crime and guns. Gun control issues have been a huge problem in the United states for forever and a day. No matter what happens when violence and guns get in contact the problem pays us all a visit. The big question is real, If having new laws for guns, will it decide/figure out the crime rate in the United States? My opinion is that the new gun laws will figure out the crime rate because so many issues/problems will be solved in the united states.
The Ethical Debate of Gun Control Introduction The debate of gun control presents an ethical dilemma in deciding which rights afforded by the US Constitution are more important. The ethical debate places the rights afforded in the Second Amendment to bear arms against the rights afforded in the First Amendment to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
America has been set on ideals created centuries ago; focusing on freedom and fighting for the rights of many. However these ideals once used to protect the nation are being misinterpreted by far too many people today. Guns have always played a big role in the lives of Americans, and many believe it is a necessity and all should have the right to own one. What they are unaware of are the average 13,000 gun homicides that take place within a year. Guns are slowly but surely becoming the leading cause of death in America.
Gun Control in America 33,000 people are killed in gun related incidents, in United States of America alone every year (The Second Amendment Guaranteed a Civic Right to Be Part of the State Militia). This is a very staggering statistic knowing that the U.S. is only one country out of the 195 countries in the world today. This is due to several reasons. Shootings are becoming more and more common, guns are getting easier and easier to find, but most of all, the second amendment has reigned supreme in gun laws ever since the founding of America in 1776. Some believe that this is a terrible amendment to have our country live by, this group supports enforcing gun laws or even abolishing guns all together.

There are as many people who advocate for pro gun laws as the people who are opposed, which is the reason why gun control has become one of the most controversial topics as of right now. America is truly split between those who advocate for gun control and those who are opposed.
