Students need to properly educate the public on the benefits of carrying guns on the campus. By states not allowing guns on campus it is making a target for the shootings. Research says there are more rapes, assaults, and robberies than killings.

Safety is one of the most basic human needs and mass shooting can put an individual of that society, and society itself in fear for their safety, family and loved ones. When we hear about mass shooting every week or every month it damages the trust we place in our society, law enforcement and people we socialize. Unfortunately, if this continues I 'm afraid we’ll become numb or become preoccupied with surviving on daily basis and in constant fear of what if next mass shooting takes place where I am, or maybe my school or what if my house? This fear in people and increase in mass shooting not only effects society, state, or on national level but it also effects us psychologically.
The various challenges that are inherent in campus life include issues of alcohol and drug abuse, social obstacles, and stress. Adding guns to such an environment is the perfect ingredient for an explosive environment that may increase the safety risk to students and everyone else within the campus. There will be an increase in accidental shootings while the mere presence of firearms in the environment might lead to conflicts among students that may escalate to levels where people are killed (Skorton, & Altshuler, 2013). Even if it is the last option, guns should never be placed at the hands of emotionally volatile young persons such as college students. Allowing firearms will escalate sparse occurrences of school shootings. Suicidal deaths among the student population will also increase as more than half of all college students already consider suicide, the presence of a firearm will only increase the risk more (Neuberger, Joan and Spiro, Ellen, 2015).
Imagine sitting in a classroom laughing at a joke your friend made, or planning on going to the movies after school, or even listening to someone’s persuasive speech essay. When suddenly someone bursts through the door with an automatic weapon in hand. You and your friends run and hide in the corner of the classroom, you are all afraid that you will never be able to see the faces of your friends, teachers, or family members ever again. Students today live their day-to-day lives in constant fear of what seems inevitable. The United States has one of the highests rates of school shootings in the world. Society has become so desensitized to these shootings that they are no longer shocked to hear about another school falling victim to it. Even when students take a stand against gun violence, the only solution offered to them is a proposition to arm teachers. However, bringing more guns into a school will only further deteriorate the situation.
Guns have no role in our country schools. Schools and colleges are places of education. Students should be free to learn in an environment away from every day violence. The catastrophes that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Columbine High School, and Virginia Tech. confirm the penetrating conclusion guns have in our nation’s schools. Violence on campus has Students, Parent, and University Staff all concerned and looking for preventative measures.
Many schools in today’s society suffer from shootings at some point while children are attending school. Shootings in schools are not a new occurrence, and America has dealt with multiple shootings in public schools in which the lives of many children and teachers have been undeservingly taken (Elliott 528). Because of school shootings, this leaves our children in danger with no way to protect themselves. Gun violence in schools is an evident problem, and there are several ways to reduce the number of incidents, such as mental health screening for owners of guns, interconnectedness of communities, and more school funding.
There should be more security guards or policemen at schools because of the fact that someone can carry out a deadly assault. Maybe not using so much technology, but using more security guards that can patrol in and outside the school. With the use of security guards the chances of a shooting happening is slim, not only that, but with armed policemen it also helps stop people from thinking about doing something bad. Using technology doesn’t stop an active shooter because it can’t do anything but catch or alert that there is a shooter, even with students’ help they can throw things and give enough time to catch the shooter. But with security guards and police they are the ones that can stop a shooter.
