One the first floor of Heterick Library 3 speakers gave lecture on their independent experiences and or research. Brian Phillips gave his lecture on the technology and engineering that’s goes in to the fabrication process of scientific methods that are used in the theater. The second speaker, Dr. Loughlin discussed the transition of Gustave Herve from socialism to extreme nationalist socialism. The third speaker, Dr. Tilton talked about the changes in journalism overtime, and how those changes influenced the American legacy and citizen journalism. Brian Philips discussed the ability of technology and technologic design to influence theatrical designs and productions. Theatric designers and producers use technology like, Photoshop to story board scenes online and model different colors for set pieces. Loughlin discussed the fascist or creationist, Gustave Herve and his ability to switch from socialist to national socialist. Herve stared as a French revolutionary but he failed at gaining support for his cause as a revolutionary socialist. He tried to lead a revolt of the workers against the wealthy in January 8th 1910 but he failed to gain much support. Then in World War1, the pacifist Herve decided to switch his views and support the war effort. He moved from a pacifist to a French nationalist and a reactionary to the issues brought before him in parliament. Herve’s change in view point to a Christian Nationalist Socialist mean that he was always a closet patriot. This topic is relevant because it serves as an example of a potential origin to fascism and gives reason as to why Trump is not a fascist but his supporters could be.
