As systems have become increasingly more complicated, the need for communicating software systems has become a challenge. As a response, multiple new programming languages are always being created and programmers are required to learn them to keep up with technological advances. Some programming languages are easy to understand and use, but can restrict the user to a certain scope. Other languages may be more complex and hard to implement, but they can allow the user more accessibility and freedom. Cade Metz, the author of the article, “Facebook Introduces ‘Hack,’ the Programming Language of the Future” effectively conveys his idea of Hack becoming the new and unique programming language of the future. Cade does this by providing good arguments …show more content…
A great example of this would be when Metz (2014) states, ‘Hack makes it easier to manage code and eliminate errors. Last year, after a brainstorm from three top engineers, Facebook solved the server problem by rewriting its PHP code with Hack.’ This conveys to the reader that Hack is being used by a big social media company so it must be very useful and practical. Also, the author makes a reference to the three top engineers in the article to give their perspectives on the programming language. Correspondingly, the author also provides multiple examples of the advantages and practical uses of Hack which assist him to convey his arguments to the audience. Together, his arguments and examples provide him with concrete points to convince the …show more content…
Each one of his arguments has been supported by an example, or the opinions of big social media software engineers. “But eventually, as Facebook expanded to hundreds of millions of people, the language started to show its limitations. As a PHP site grows, you need far more computer servers to run the thing than you would with other language.” (Metz, 2014) This statement from the article shows that the author has compared Hack to other programming languages and states one of the reasons that Hack was created. The previous quote is a great example from that article that proves the author has some knowledge of programming and has done research on the PHP’s limits as a programming language. There are multiple other examples from the article that further support that the author has done a great amount of research on programming
