On January 13, 1999 Hae Min Lee became a missing person up until February 9th, when her body was discovered in Leakin Park. Many murder suspects came to the surface but one the police refused to get over was Adnan Syed. Inconsistencies were overlooked all throughout the case. Especially during the process of gathering evidence so long as Adnan remained the guilty party throughout the murder investigation. On the day of Hae’s disappearance Adnan lent his car to a “friend,” Jay. Adnan knew Jay because Adnan’s best friend was Stephanie whose boyfriend was an older, already graduated, male known as Jay. Jay had Adnan’s car and phone throughout the day because Adnan let him use it to go buy a gift for Stephanie. The day of Hae’s disappearance was also Stephanie's birthday. While Jay had Adnan’s phone the police noticed six incoming calls from one, Jenn, a close friend of Jay’s and a stranger to Adnan. These calls were discovered on February 18th after the police subpoenaed Adnan’s cell phone records. The records led to the questioning of Jenn on February 27th, who had met with the detectives after she had enough time to speak with Jay. She recalls that the night of January 13th Jay met with Jenn and expressed that he really needed to reveal a secret he had been keeping. The big secret being, “Adnan killed Hae.” Jenn, the next day with a lawyer and her mother alongside, she proceeded to provide the police with a motive for Adnan as she stated that, “Adnan said that Hae broke his heart.” Jenn declared that she had asked about Jay’s involvement and he confessed to Adnan asking for his help in burying the body, which Adnan then showed
