Hamlet is written by William Shakespeare and published in 1603. This story is about a son getting revenge for his dead father. Hamlet would be considered the protagonist of this play. He is destined to murder the person who killed his father, King Hamlet. This story shows how revenge can make a person act bizarre and out of their character.
Hamlet is the Prince of Denmark who devotes his life to finding his father’s killer. After King Hamlet’s death, His brother Claudius marries his wife Gertrude. One night, a ghost appeared that looked like King Hamlet. The spirit told Hamlet that his brother Claudius is the one who killed him. Hamlet then came up with a plan to kill his father’s brother. He wants to see Claudius’s reaction to this scene. Hamlet thinks if he is really guilty he will react in a guilty way. When it comes to the point in the scene of King Hamlet’s murder, Claudius leaves the room. Hamlet believes that shows his guilt. Hamlet goes to kil Claudius but finds him praying. Hamlet believes Claudius going to heaven is too good for him so he doesn’t kill him just yet.
Claudius now realizes why Hamlet has been acting so strange. In fear for his own life he orders Hamlet to be sent to England. Hamlet confronts his mother to try and tell her what he knows about this father’s death but he hears a noise. Hamlet thinks Claudius is spying so he stabs the tapestry, killing Polonius. He is sent to England for this crime. Claudius instructs Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to kill Hamlet on his way to England. Claudius wants Hamlet out the picture for good.
Claudius convinces Polonius son, Laertes, that Hamlet is to blame for his father’s death. Laertes becomes very angry and wants Hamlet dead. When they realize Hamlet is coming back to Denmark because his ship was attacked by Pirates, Claudius uses Laertes to get revenge on Hamlet. Laertes is to fence with Hamlet in a friendly match, but Claudius will poison Laertes sword so it will poison Hamlets blood when he is stabbed. Claudius also puts poison in a goblet just in case his first plan does not
