William Shakespeare’s play, The Tragedy Of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, was a tragedy written somewhere in between the years of 1599 and 1602. Hamlet is Shakespeare’s longest play and considered one of the most important works of world literature. Hamlet’s flaw of procrastination inhibited his plans to avenge his father, leading to tragedies throughout the play. King Hamlet died. Right after his death his brother married his widowed wife, just two months after the death. Hamlet is very upset about his mother moving on so quickly. Shortly after the wedding of Claudius and Gertrude, Hamlet saw his father’s ghost and finds out what really happened to his father. Claudius killed the king, just so he could be next in line for the throne. Hamlet was unsure if the ghost was really his father, so he used a play to get proof. Shortly after Hamlet had proof that Claudius for sure killed his father, he then started to plot against him. There was a moment where Hamlet was spying on Claudius while he was in the church. Perfect, they are alone and it is a perfect time to kill him. But then Hamlet's thoughts started to take over. He started to overthink his plan. Claudius was in the church praying for forgiveness. Hamlet noticed he was asking God to forgive him of his sins so he did not want to kill him because if he was asking for forgiveness, then Hamlet would just send him right to heaven. So he left the church. If hamlet would have just stayed for a few more minutes he would have known that Claudius never actually asked for forgiveness because first, he had to confess what he did. If Hamlet's procrastination would not have taken over he could have killed him right then and there. If he would have done that it would have stopped all of the tragic events throughout the rest of the
