Sometimes in order for a character to destroy evil, he needs to transform into an evil person, even if it means that he will die in the process. The evil inside of individual, in a way, is kind of contagious disease. It can be inside of one person and after a little bit, it may infect another one. This repeats until the host of evil dies without passing to another person who cannot avoid the evil. But like in most stories, heroes destroy evil over and over again, just like in the movies. Hamlet vows to avenge his father’s death at the hands of Claudius. However, he procrastinates throughout the play and doesn’t seek revenge until the end, when Hamlet finally acts by his instincts, and kills his father’s murderer. Hamlet is stopped in seeking revenge by a number of factors throughout the play. He needs to know if the ghost is telling the truth before he seeks revenge. In the beginning of the play, Hamlet’s character is viewed as a character with integrity. He developed to becoming a victim of evil. This is proven when Hamlet tells Claudius that he will never forgive him for what he did. He tells Gertrude that he will never forgive her because she married the murderer of his father.
