In today's day and age, there is a recurring topic that comes up when discussing travel: environmental sustainability. Hotels are all competing to lessen their carbon footprint and at the same time lessen their costs to operate; increasing their profit. Hampton Inn & Suites Streetsboro is a franchise that is taking this step to convert itself to becoming a more sustainable and environmental friendly hotel. Having to follow not only the brand name's guidelines but also following the Hilton guidelines in which the brand belongs to. To assist in this research, we conducted a in-person interview with the assistant manager, used a sustainability in the hospitality book, and multiple on-line resources. The results concluded that the hotel can improve on the simple things such as a recycling program. We choose to look at the environmental sustainability side of a well-known hotel: Hampton Inn & Suites. Since there is 2,300 plus properties we decided to do one where one of the members worked: Hampton Inn & Suite Cleveland-Southeast/Streetsboro. This hotel is right off Interstate 80 and is convenient for travelers to stop for the night, sports teams visiting Kent State, or business people to use for a few nights as they visit company headquarters nearby. Our goal was to find out just how environmentally friendly a major hotel name is aiming to become. Also, to help them find more ways they could improve to become a more environmentally friendly property. To assist in this research, we went to the assistant manager, Chaz Drew, and asked specific questions to educate us on the practice this property has in place.
