Han Kang, a South Korean writer, as she lives on her life she had to be optimistic and she went through some hard time, but realize the life lessons about the world and has a strong sense of being one with nature.
In Han Kang’s time in college, a line in a poetry book written by Lee Sang peaked her interest. “I believe that humans should be plants.”(Han Kang)(141) She was just like him, she seen the way of how humans used animals in their own corrupted ways. The reason Han wrote this book is to show the “dog-eat-dog-world.” What this quote means is that we as humans will eat anything to survive, even if it means cannibalism. Han reflected this as a way to show of what she had seen back at her hometown. After World War 2, when she was in Gwangju, she felt the inhuman violence that has happened in the world. When the days of war subsided, tranquility came upon her, but she knows war will persist in times of peace. In the book the Korean vegan wife reflects on how to be human in a certain way. Before writing the book, Han asked readers if they wanted to be human. What she means by that is that we can be considered as humans, but can we recognize ourselves as human? She is currently working on her sixth novel. We don’t know of what’s to be, but all we know is that it’s something related to her life or a lifestyle again. She’s in Korea right now teaching students of how to do creative writing. The reason that she wanted to teach to is because she wants to create an environment where writers can express themselves and still make a reflection of the world they see now.
