One way I used Albion football lexi personally is the play calling aspect. For my position in football I have to read and figure out the language of the defensive play coach is trying to give me from the sidelines then give that call to the rest of the defense so they know what to run for that play. The way I read the plays that are given from the sidelines are through the lexi of hand signals. Each hand signal means a specific play, movement, stunt, and or coverage for the defense. An example is if my coach throws his hands away from him that means “away”, or set the strength (the more powerful side of the defense) away from the running back. There are 100s of different signs relating to a particular stunt, coverage, movement etc... to the defense. Other lexi used in Albion football is the plays and what they are called. Offense have their own lexi that they use to call their plays and so does defense. The people who chose to name these plays for the team are the coaches. They come up with the lexi of the offense and defense which the players have to in return learn be good with translating it. The lexi I use with hand signals, calling the defense plays, help us get closer to the goal/purpose which is winning a MIAA champions is were the only defense that can read the calls from our coaches on the sidelines. We can run any defensive stunt, blitz, and coverage without the offense knowing what we are running because they can’t ready our unique lexi. With the offense were playing always on their toes because they don’t know what we are running helps us stop the offense from scoring touchdowns, creates turnovers for the defense, and help us win games which leads our team to a MIAA
