Yes, they’re the picture of a perfect family, thought Hank Wheeler, as he spied on them from the edge of the forest. What he wouldn 't give to have him a woman like that one in there. He 'd wanted her since first laying eyes on her back in Sandersville. He 'd seen some mighty-fine Indian flesh in his years of traveling about and he’d had his share of them, but that one in there was especially pretty with those big, violet-colored eyes of hers. Yep, he wanted her mighty bad. The only thing that had held him back, was his scout, Unegadihi- Unegadihi had gotten the name of, "Unegadihi," from the Cherokee; it meant, “white-man-killer”. At bedtime, they moved Uriah into the front room and made a place for him to sleep. Jeremiah opted to sleep near the front door. He said, that way, he wouldn 't be disrupting their sleep; he said that since he was getting older, he needed to get up and go out more often. The real reason he wanted near the door was in case someone tried to sneak in on them… Charity was thankful the cabin had a loft for the children; that way, she and Henry had the back bedroom all to themselves. It had been months since they had been entirely alone in a room with an actual bed- they could strip off naked and truly enjoy their reunion. But as the time came for them to close themselves off from the world, both felt a little shy- It’s almost like our wedding night, thought Charity as she gazed at Henry. She heated water and filled the washtub so that she and Henry could bathe- she had intended for them to bathe separately; that was how they had always bathed, but Henry stripped off naked and crawled into the tub before she could suggest otherwise. When he asked her to wash his back, she obliged- Lovingly, she soaped and washed every part of him that was above water level. When he finished, she shyly slid her dress off and stepped into the tub. He soaped the washrag and gently washed her back, arms, shoulders and neck. While she was finishing her bath, Henry had put on his nightclothes- she was at a disadvantage. When he stood to dry, she had adverted her eyes, but not Henry; his eyes took in every inch of her body while lying in bed waiting for her to join him. Timidly, she dried her body and then donned her gown, before walking to the bed. She had butterflies in her stomach as she stood beside the bed waiting on him to extinguish the lamp; however, he had no intention of smothering the flame. After a moment, she slid her gown off her shoulders and let it drop to the floor in a puddle at her feet. She saw his body respond to her nakedness as she climbed into bed and lay down beside him. And, even as hungry as they both were for each other’s touch, they took their time to rediscover each others body and fully enjoy their reunion.
