If you use a desktop or laptop computer on a daily basis and keep important information stored on your computer, having your drive fail can be devastating. When your hard drive fails, it is natural to panic and to try to fix the problem on your own.

However, when your hard drive fails, you need to take your computer to a specialist who can recover your information. Their ability to recover your information from your failed hard drive depends upon the actions you take after your hard drive fails. #2 Do Not Open Your Hard Drive

Next, unless you are trained and have extensive experience putting together computers, you should not open up your hard drive and see if you can spot the problem using do-it-yourself tutorials found online.

Your hard drive is a sensitive piece of equipment; if you get it dirty or damage it in any way, you could cause irreversible damage to the hard drive and to all the information that it is storing inside of it. Only an expert working in a sterile environment with proper training should open up your computer and work on the hard drive.

#3 Do Not Swap Circuit Boards

As with the point above, unless you have the proper training, you should not try to switch the circuit board to see if that fixes the issue with your hard drive. If the circuit board you switch the old one out with does not have the exact same firmware, you could create more internal conflicts within your computer system, which could lead to your hard drive become further compromised.
