Easter Island is famous for its many large statues which were carved of stone and dragged half way across the island to be placed. But to move the stones, the people had to cut down palm trees which eventually caused the island to be stripped of its trees population and caused the animals to migrate and find other food sources. When the animals migrated it caused the islanders population to collapse due to wars and starvation which lead to cannibalism among the people. Although the island had went through an ecological disaster in the early 1600’s, the people were able to restore the stability of the island and they lived relatively well until the late 1600’s.
