Harley’s Autobiography On March 7th, 2001 Harley Libreros was born in Queens, NY at St. Johnson hospital. His mother, Judith Penuela, was raised in Fusagasuga, Colombia and his father, Hector Libreros, was raised in Tulua, Colombia. He is the only one to be born in the U.S. At the age of 2, Harley and his family moved to Sarasota, FL. That is where his life began. At the age of 2, Harley started to speak his first language, Spanish. In the year of 2005, Harley started his first educational path at Daisy’s Preschool, where he learned his second language, English. For his 5th birthday his mother took him to Colombia to meet his grandma, seven aunts, uncle, and his many cousins. In the beginning of fall of 2006, Harley started his first day in a public school, Brentwood Elementary, which was probably the worst year of his life. He didn’t like his teacher, but he didn’t pay attention to that and graduated kindergarten. He was starting high school at Sarasota High School and was definitely ready for his freshmen year. The first week of high school was stressful, but an interesting change to his schedule. He wasn’t anxious or shy. His first month of school passed like a breeze, except for the last week of that month. On September 28, 2015, Judith Penuela, Harley’s mother, was diagnosed with breast cancer. That week Harley was in shock, he couldn’t believe that his mother was diagnosed with cancer. He couldn’t think straight for a couple of day, but he knew he had to do his best and put all his hard work to school. On October 2, 2015, his mother’s results came back in, and she was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. This news hit Harley and his whole family hard, especially his mother. It has been hard for Harley to stay focus, but he knows that he has to stay on task and keep up his hard
