The general statement made by mark forster in his film stranger than fiction is that when a person realizes their time is finite they try to create opportunities to improve their quality of life. More specifically Harold Crick stops waiting for fate to hand him an opportunity to improve his life, instead he goes out of his way to create these opportunities himself because fate might not help, before time ran out he must “go and make it the one [Harold] always wanted.” “Harold Crick was a man of infinite numbers, endless calculations and remarkably few words” but when he finds out that a past act that seemed “[simple], seemingly innocuous [] would result in his imminent death”, he realized that the time he had left was almost at an end.
