Harriet Tubman had a ton of great achievements, but there was one that stood out the most. Harriet Tubman was born in 1822 in a small town in Maryland called Dorchester County. Tubman was born into slavery and when she was young she would rake the fields and carry around tree logs. When she was 22, she married her husband John Tubman and then she changed her name from Minty Rose to Harriet Tubman. When Tubman was 27, her master died and it gave her a chance to escape slavery and become a free person. She did exactly that; she got away with escaping and then starting helping other slaves and formed the Underground Railroad. It shows how many lives she impacted and how much of a difference she made against slavery. Each slave at a time she was rescued shows forever changed and a step to freedom. In conclusion, Tubman’s heart for the Underground Railroad has proven to stand as her greatest achievement. Some people may argue that Tubman had greater achievements than the Underground Railroad. Some may assume that Tubman being a spy was better because she saved around 800 slaves and was able to have the slaves trust her by singing, her time during the Underground Railroad is way more significant (document C). Tubman faced many dangers as a conductor on the Underground Railroad. She traveled through unfamiliar territories at night time and in the freezing cold while also having to avoid all the slave catchers. On the other hand, when Tubman was a spy, she had help and safety from the Union Army. A number of people might say Tubman’s work as a nurse is a greater achievement because in document D it shows that Tubman would help the wounded soldiers of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteers.
