The short story “Harrison Bergeron”: by Kurt Vonnegut and the film 2081 are alike in many ways. One similarity is that one of the ballerinas went up on the stage next Harrison. In the movie the ballerinas description and appearance matched how they described her in the book.. The book also matches the visual appearance of Harrison as his handicaps looked as if they were just welded together after they had been pulled out of a yard full of scrap metal. The actions in the movie and the book where practically synchronized. Like how Harrison removed the handicaps of the musicians and the ballerina. And how he corrected the musicians and had their music improve as he motivated them to do their best. As the story and movie progressed it got more gruesome as it showed and read that the Handicapper General Diana Moon Glampers walked in on the stage shot and killed both Harrison and the Ballerina and after that the Handicapper General aimed at the musicians and gave them 10 seconds to put their handicaps back on or they would end up like …show more content…

In this situation, most students will probably say that the movie is better because it shows more detail; however, in the book/short story, Kurt Vonnegut Jr. included sensory detail that made the reader feel as though they were there watching the event take place; like they were in the audience. While the movie was entertaining, the story had you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next sentence. When there was written dialogue, the tone that was projected gave the story feeling and emotional connection. The descriptions of the characters and the way they acted, painted a visual picture so the reader was able to imagine and live the story of Harrison Bergeron’s life. Overall, the short story is preferred by those who like to know every detail and infer the ending and missing information so that it becomes a part of them and feel connected to the
