Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K Rowling is a very popular fantasy book of the 21st century. It tells the story of Harry Potter, an eleven year old boy, who just found out he is a wizard after the death of his parents years before at the hands of the Dark Lord, Voldemort. The story focuses on his journey at Hogwarts, a wizarding school, making friends, and the struggle of fighting the Dark Lord. One important theme that the book highlights throughout is that with courage and friends you can accomplish anything you put your mind to no matter how big or small. Ron continues to show how much he values friendship in the part of the book where the Golden Trio (Harry, Ron, and Hermione) is at the Quidditch match and Malfoy is making fun of Harry so Ron says, “I’m warning you, Malfoy-one more word-.” This quote shows his courage to stand up to people that are feared by others and have a reputation that makes other people scared of them. It also shows the way Ron is willing to do anything for his friends even if it means him getting in trouble. “I’m going through that trapdoor tonight and nothing you two say is going to stop me!” is a another quote that shows the courage Harry has to stand up to his own friends in order to do the right thing to help other people. This is something that Harry has in common with Neville in this scene where Neville tries to stop the Golden Trio from leaving the Gryffindor tower at night, “I won’t let you do it,” and “I’ll-I’ll fight you!” This also shows a character that is willing to stand up to his friends in order to do the right thing, which is a very common thing in this book where characters are constantly having to choose between what is right and
