Taking away a tool that is powerful and necessary can have the worst of repercussions, especially in children where the breadth of their horizons dictates everything. Although we ban books instead of burning them, the story still serves as a cautionary tale of how censorship can be taken too far and lead to devastating consequences. “ ‘You weren’t there, you didn’t see,’ he said. ‘There must be something in books, things we can't imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. Luke feels guilt after witnessing a crime that results in the death of one of the Siscos. Feeling of guilt affects the protagonist despite the fact that he did not do anything immoral: “Suddenly, I felt the urge to sneak back into the sanctuary and start praying. I knew I was guilty of something” (Grisham 40). Even though he does not know why he feels guilty, Luke still feels anxious, despite not being the one who participated in the fight. The fight affects Luke and he is probably more affected by it than many of the other spectators, and the fact that Luke knows Hank and that he works for the Chandlers also contributes to Luke’s condition and mental state.
In school, we are taught certain things that the schools’ want us to learn, but there are certain things they don’t teach us. Every person in this world, has the right to know about things and learn, whether it’s in school, or they teach themselves things that we aren’t taught in school. In the story, “Fahrenheit 451”, every person is censored and they aren’t allowed to read books, because the government does not allow them to, and there are firemen that burn all the books so no one will get a hold of them. In our time, the 21st century, we are censored from certain things the government does not want us to know, which is unfair because something could be going on in the world and only the government knows about it, so how are we supposed to
Book banning is a really big problem. It has been going on for hundreds of years without protest. This is a problem because when people ban books, they hide the truth of what 's really happening in the world. People need to know what is really going on so that they can be prepared and fight for their opinion. This truth hiding is also causes society a portrayal of deceitfulness, which can cause problems.
Nowadays, all over the news and social media we see people complaining about something new all the time. Majority of the time, the situations that should be a big issue and need to be addressed and fixed are often not, while situations that should not be much of a bother to people are, and actions are immediately being taken. Banning books, are one of these situations where a little bit of too much attention is being focused on it and too many people are giving their voice about books that have been in the school system for forever. Growing up, reading had never been my favorite thing to do. I’d always try to persuade my parents not to read, and little me would rather do anything else in the world besides that. However, my parents never were heavily restricting on the books I read. This led me to read many of the books my parents had bought over the years on topics such as politics, business, science, etc. Now, I thank my parents for allowing me to read freely because now I know the perspective of many across the world and now am a less biased person.

It takes just a few seconds to make a decision, but an entire life time to see the full extent of the consequence of that decision. Not all decisions lead to bad consequences though, some lead to life changing resolutions. I have recently joined a Banned Books class as a part of my freshman year, first semester, at Franklin Pierce University, a decision with the ability to have life changing affects. Ive never been a very strong reader and often take longer to read than most people. I had no real reason to join banned books, but I found myself looking for an elective that would interest me.

Citizens should be allowed to stand up if they believe books should not be banned. It is important that writers should be able to have their books out to the public without getting banned. “Challengers often employ a definition that maintains that banning materials is the only true form of censorship,”(Knox 740). Censorship of books is common and a real problem.
The topic is if schools should ban books, well I kind of get why teachers and professors would want to get rid of books but think about the students you're taking away good books from them. Sure there might be things that might not be as suitable for the kids, but sometimes they're going to have to run into bad things in the books. I ran into a book and my mom didn't want me to read it, I didn't, so basically what i'm trying to say is their parents should handle what they read. The books should have labels that tell you the level it is and what the book is about on the back.
Books, Should We Ban Them Or Not: Banned books are books that have been taken out of public environments because of many different reasons. The series has become a cultural phenomenon that has people of all ages as loyal fans worldwide. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was the first book in the series by J. K. Rowling that had to have some qualities to capture audiences. Sure, it is a book about magic and adventures, but there are plenty of books about magic in the fantasy genre that never will have the following that Harry Potter does, so what did Rowling do to make this a meaningful story?
