President Harry S. Truman In one of the most tough times of US history April 12, 1945 Harry S. Truman became our 33rd president after the death of one of in my opinion the most influential and compassion presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt. Throughout his time in office his views on refining the economy and the best interest of the US was clear, which mirrored the determination and conviction of Franklin Roosevelt. Roosevelt died suddenly on April 12, 1945 after being elected for a fourth term as president, leaving his vice-president, harry S. Truman in charge. If there is one criticism that I think is pretty accurate about FDR, is the absolute lack of help he gave to Truman as the vice-president. He only met with Truman twice privately, and very little of any substance was discussed. Truman was woefully unprepared to assume the presidency with a war still being waged.

Many years before this moment, it was unlikely that the sickly Roosevelt would ever flourish in the wide world. However, with an unmatched determination, Theodore Roosevelt obliterated his physical weakness and became a strong, forceful young man.
Amid this period in New York City, nearby legislative issues were a harsh calling. Capable government officials known as "supervisors" ran political machines and controlled the greater part of nearby decisions, winning votes from New Yorkers through compulsion, blackmail, and the danger of roughness. President Harry Truman gave an executive order in 1945 to drop to atomic bombs in popular downtown cities in Japan. With the guidance of many scientists and political leaders President Truman made the extremely tough decision to drop the bombs. After listening to arguments from both sides President Truman came to the conclusion that dropping bombs would be the best thing to do for this war. It would also show that the United States had an extreme military power. Many American politicians were for the idea of dropping the bomb, because they believed that it was the only way to end the war and get Japan to surrender.
