Document Response: The Report of the Hartford Convention The Hartford Convention began gathering on December 15, 1814 so that they could openly discuss and resolve their objections to the War of 1812 and political issues with the government’s rising power. The War of 1812 was a burden to the colonists of New England because proceeding as such threatened the obliteration of trade and sky rocketed taxes. The politicians debated on creating a new Constitutional Amendments, of many was the elimination of the three-fifths compromise which would give slave states more control in Congress. The Convention states, “[slavery] has proved to be unjust and unequal in its operation.”
A brutal crash between a white 2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 and a city truck on Foster Road, San Angelo, Texas, caused severe injuries for two people, according to a statement released by the San Angelo Police Department. According to San Angelo police, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, police and San Angelo Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the 5300 block of Foster Road for a major two-vehicle crash with entrapment. The driver of the Z28 Camaro, McKenna Bowie, 18, and the 16 year-old passenger had to be cut from the wreckage.
The article “Blizzard!” by Jeanie Mebane and the poem from “The Blizzard Voice” by Ted Kooser both portray the blizzards of 1888. For example, the first sentence of the article “Blizzard!” says “no one on the prairie was prepared for the violent blizzard” that shows the reader that it's not just a couple of inches of snow, it shows that the blizzard will be windy and there will be a lot of snow and damage, also the fact that no one was expecting it makes it a whole lot worse. Another example is in paragraph 5 “Hunt and her students were blinded by the force of the blizzard and almost immediate felt their eyelashes crust over with ice.” Even though it doesn't specifically say that it's windy you just know because of the details. The 2000’s was a very intense decade, with the occurrence of 9/11 which led to the War in Iraq. A year after 2000, HBO released a documentary named “Bellevue, inside Out” by Maryann DeLeo. In this documentary, the viewer gets to take a look inside Bellevue Hospital located in New York City, which contains a psychiatric institution. The film captures about 12 months inside the psychiatric unit in this hospital. The documentary follows both the employees, such as the emergency room directors, psychiatrists, nurses, etc., as well as the patients admitted into the psychiatric emergency room.

Close your eyes and imagine what it would be like to live in a house surrounded by enormous vivacious trees. The view from every angle of your home would never be a disappointment. Think about how beautiful and breathtaking it would be to watch all of the leaves change colors during autumn. Right now, you are most likely inclined to believe that nothing could possibly be awful about living here, but you are wrong, very wrong. Now imagine that same house, but place it in a residential suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
When you think of a blizzard, you usually don’t think of tragic 40 below zero temperatures. You don’t always imagine extremely high winds blowing the snow every which way, making it very difficult to see what’s in front of you. You certainly don’t think of a blizzard to kill 235 people, including 213 children just trying to make it home from school. The Children’s Blizzard of 1888 included many details common to blizzards, had incredible devastation due to the welcoming conditions beforehand, and involved some very surprising circumstances.
Every memory jumped back like kangaroos and we cried. This is the most tragic event in Washington, and one of my life's most tragic events. Never going to forget my friends that died because of this mountain. They will always be here to me. The collapse was the largest ever recorded.

One moment the sky was growing a little grey, and the next thing you know you were surrounded by snow and stunning winds. The main reason this blizzard was unmistakingly deadly was because of its powerful winds, which would blow snow and ice into people’s faces, and the chilling temperatures of 40 below. People caught outside would have their nostrils and eyelids sealed shut by ice, their skin would tear open if they rubbed the ice off too much, and eventually their limbs would become frozen and lifeless. The blizzard on January 12, 1888 will forever be known as one of the most disastrous storms in history. The storm earned the name “the children’s blizzard” because so many children lives were taken in this malicious storm. Could something have been done to prevent such a large death toll? Yes. If the proper steps had been taken to warn the people of the approaching bad weather, then many could have taken the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of their family and livestock.
There were many key events and people that led up to the American Revolution. Two of them being the The Boston Tea Party and the Boston Massacre. These events are very important to history because these were the first of many events that helped with the establishment of independence from Britain. The colonist left their country and sailed across the oceans in hopes of starting a new life in a new world. However, the British government didn't give them that opportunity by controlling them.
The Buffalo Creek Disaster written by Gerald M. Stern helped me understand the different decisions a lawyer must go through to help their clients. The Buffalo Creek Disaster was a man-made disaster that occurred in February 1972. The Buffalo Creek Mining Company’s coal waste refuse pile collapsed, leaving over 125 people dead and 4,000 people mentally distraught. The Arnold & Porter law firm was reached out to by survivors for help and Gerald M. Stern was appointed as the lawyer for the case, who eventually won $13.5 million for the survivors.
The earthquake of 2010 was a 7.0 on the Richter Scale. This large earthquake caused the death of 230,000 people. This was due to poor building structure and little warning. There were too many bodies to move and so few people who were capable of moving them (due to injuries) that the bodies would just be piled up on roads and in city squares. As a result of the earthquake, a total of 10,000 children were left orphaned.
