In our day and age where we live in a world full of people’s varied opinions, we must be cautious of how we treat our fellow neighbors. Even though most of us accept the LGBT community for who they love, some do not, because of their personal opinion. We are supported to think aloud and share our opinions, but when we abuse this power, we can physically hurt someone. We must protect our people, even if it is none of our concern to do so. There is still hope for this community, as there are many communities and individuals who had dedicated their lives to fighting against this injustice. For all of his life, Henry was a closeted gay, meaning that he refused to tell anyone his sexuality due to any personal reason, until he befriended some gays at the end of his time in New York. After moving to San Francisco in 1972, he opened up a camera shop called “Castro Camera” to devote to working in the heart of a gay city’s community. By showing his love for the community in a friendly sort of way made Milk find his voice as an activist leader. Despite losing in two elections, he became the city's first openly gay individual to be elected to office in the United States after being inaugurated in 1978. Milk dreamed of a world without hate guides, and the hope for equality among all races and nations, which symbolized the freedom to live life with millions of LGBT people all around the globe.
