For the final project I’ve decided to introduce a new spaceship toy manufactured by Hasbro, a leading U.S. toy manufacturer. According to the Toy Association, the estimated U.S. toy market size is in the range of $26.5 billion and has grown steadily over the last 5 years (toyassociation.org, 2018). Hasbro Inc. is a U.S. toy and game manufacturer based out of Rhode Island that produces some of the most iconic products and has a very diverse portfolio with over 1,500 brands (hasbro.gcs-web.com, 2018). Hasbro has over $5 billion in annual sales and is only behind Mattel in the U.S. toy industry. Hasbro was established in 1923 and has a long history manufacturing and distributing a variety of toys and games. Franchise brands are the company’s core products and all new products that need additional development and investment fall into the emerging brands category. Hasbro is always looking to create new products to meet the evolving preferences of their ever changing consumer base and this new state of the art battery operated spaceship will be a welcome addition. More than half of Hasbro’s sales are in North America but the company operates in over 40 countries with most of the manufacturing taking place in Asia. Their large consumer base in many markets around the world is a strength of their operations. Also, by manufacturing primarily in China and India, Hasbro can produce more products at lower costs than manufacturing domestically.
