In the narrative, Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen, there was a boy who had hope to get him through hard times. This boy’s name was Brian. Brian was in a plane crash that landed in the Canadian forest. The crash was caused because the pilot had a heart attack and died. The plane crashed in lake, leaving Brian alone. I was shocked by how he could survive a whole two months being alone. Brian had hope the entire time he was lost in the forest. In chapter 3-5 Brian had escaped the plane crash in the lake. He slept for a long time with an empty belly. When he woke up he was very hungry and thirsty. After taking a few gulps of water, from the lake, Brian was feeling much, much better. But, Brian was still hungry and started to look for some fruit or something to eat. He finally found some berries with big seeds inside, but he didn't mind, he was just starving. Brian was hoping he would survive out in the Canadian wilderness. He worked hard to survive two months in the wilderness. One time, Brian, a few weeks before being found, thought he would be stuck in that place his entire life. In chapter 13-15, he took his hatchet and started to cut himself, thinking it would end his misery. The next morning came and Brian realized he was hoping he would die. Luckily, he still wanted to see his family. Making his misery end didn’t come true but seeing his family did in the next few weeks. If I were Brian I would try my hardest to see my family one more
