The story's main character Brian Robeson some other Important characters are his mom ,his dad, and the man that his mom was secretly seeing. When brian crashed into the lake his main goal was to find food and survive. His whole personality changed he was all about surviving the most important thing was Surviving not his Mom's Secret. The author of hatchets name is Gary Paulsen.
Three keys to surviving being lost in the wilderness are survival instincts, an axe, and scenes. In Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, thirteen-year-old Brian Robeson used all three after he is the only survivor of a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness. Brian adapts and grows because of his struggle to survive. As a result of the events, he changes from distressed in the beginning, to lonesome yet egotistical in the middle, to floored in the end.
Hatchet, the book, did a better job at telling the story than “A Cry in the Wild”. In my opinion, Hatchet did a better job at telling the story because it gives you more details. In Hatchet they use a lot of imagery. You can actually imagine what they are talking about without actually seeing it. In both, Hatchet and “A Cry in the Wild” they use foreshadowing.
In my opinion think Hatchet does a better job of telling the story than A cry in the wild. I believe this because the narrator gives more details when he describe when Brian got into the plane. The narrator said Brian needed to build a raft. For example,the narrator said “ Brian build a raft “on page 159. In the movie it didn’t really show Brian building the raft.
I’ve always loved movies, but I’m not much of a book reader. Despite this, I read Hatchet for and it was... okay. It wasn’t the best but it was enjoyable to some extent. The movie, A Cry in the Wild, though was so cringe worthy that my distant, soon to be wife, or husband, cringed even though she, or he, probably didn’t see it.
These examples clearly show why Hatchet tells the story better because of its imagery and foreshadowing and some events in Hatchet weren’t in A Cry In The Wild. In conclusion ,this is why I think Hatchet tells a better story.
In my opinion Hatchet explains the story better using imagery and foreshadowing. For example when Brian was eating the raspberries he told us that they were tangy, sweet, juicy, and ripe which helped me almost be able to taste the berries. When Brian from, “A Cry In The Wild”ate the fish he just talked to himself I couldn’t paint a picture in my head or even almost taste it, it really didn’t describe the fish or use imagery. When Brian in hatchet ate the fish he told us it was greasy,flaky smelled good,and tasted so good. I could almost smell and taste the fish this is where he used imagery again.
If you read hatchet you read that Brian got rescued but people started to wonder what he would of had to go thru if he didn 't and had to threw the winter, So the author made this book Brian 's Winter that
The hatchet made Brian feel happy and strong again and he was able to hunt and made connections with his old English Teacher. (Hatchet p.7) He said that all he wanted
I believe that hatchet does a better job of telling the story. I believe this because the book is more specific. For example in the book on page 75 it said that he through the hatchet at the wall and a shower of sparks rained down. Another example is in the book on page 141 it said that Brian was attacked by a moose in the movie he was attacked by a bear. One more example is that in the book on page 113 it said that the plain crashed by a L shaped lake in the movie he crashed by a o shaped lake.
The themes in both Hatchet and Castaway was similar. The two themes that would be discussed in relation to Hatchet and Castaway are; perseverance and family. At the start of both texts, the main characters Brian and Chuck weren’t sure of exactly where they landed and just hoped that a rescue plane or a boat will come near to help. Brian decides to keep him alive until the rescue plane comes. Although Perpich wasn’t one of his family members he persevered Brian to always think positive and stay on top of things.
Gary Paulsen was affected by a heart attack right in front of his eyes, but this affected his country in a way. A turning point that affected Paulsen was Paulsen said, ’his eyes’’ looked into my eyes, ‘’I will not sleep well’’ thinking of his eyes. A person had a heart attack right in front of Paulsen eyes, and this scared him for life. A way Paulsen affected his country was Paulsen said , ‘’years later’’ when I was writing hatchet I remembered the man and put him in the book, this means that Paulsen made a scene in hatchet more realistic in hatchet, which made more people want to read hatchet that is how Paulsen changed the country. The next thing Paulsen did that was a turning point was, ‘’one of the most catastrophic events in’’

The book is based on a 13-year-old who is accustomed to big-city life and comfort when he finds himself alone in a remote Canadian forest with no tools but a hatchet his mother gave him. Brian Robeson, a thirteen-year-old boy from New York City, is the only passenger on a small plane headed toward the oil fields of Canada. Brian is on his way to spend the summer with his father, and he 's feeling totally bummed about his parents ' recent divorce. he doesn 't have much time to dwell on his unhappy family situation, though, because the pilot the only other person on the plane suddenly suffers a heart attack and dies.
The Hatchet is a intense survival story. The main character Brian is trapped in a forest after a bad plane crash. In the story, Brian used three survival strategies to lead him to staying alive in the forest and being able to face any challenges of survival. The strategies used are Trial and Error, Positive Thinking, and Observation. In the next paragraphs I will talk about the three main survival strategies Brian used to survive the forest.
