DIARY ENTRY #1 Parneet Grewal Date: February, 11,2016 Time:5:33 pm Hey there! My ELA class and I have been recently reading a book called Hatchet.I have noticed that Brian has been composing different ways that he has been surviving off of, without knowing at all that he would be in this predicament beforehand.Like the article “Help me make it through the night” suggests, it is necessary for you to have a survival kit with you at all times.A few of these following items are a definite must to have. For example, The article states that you should mention your travel plan to someone before you go anywhere, have something to keep you warm and something to protect yourself with.Brian is taking an airline so, someone in the company …show more content…

He also posses the hatchet his mother gave him, still hanging from his belt, tennis shoes, socks, jeans, underwear, leather belt, T-shirt, torn windbreaker, and a broken watch. Now, as we all know, not all those things will come in handy for Brian.Perhaps he might be able to benefit from using the nail clipper, and his hatchet. He could use the nail clipper to pick berries, fruit,etc..the hatchet to hunt animals, make a fire by rubbing it against the rocks, and for self-protection.Most importantly he has a windbreaker.Even if it is torn, it is better than nothing!I individually assume that some things that Brian could do in this situation (not that he is able to) is, have a lighter to start a fire with for him to be able to prepare raw food such as, animal skins and keep himself warm.He could also have some sort of signal flare that could perhaps help the rescue team to be able to help him.Momentarily I think that Brian chances of survival all depend on how many days he will have to live there and how long it will take for the rescue team to find him?If Brian has to halt there for 1-2 weeks I think his survival chances are looking pretty satisfying. If longer, then probably he would not last looking at the circumstances right now. That is what I was thinking about Brian right
