In the first stave of Christmas Carol I think a theme is hate. Scrooge obviously doesn’t like Christmas, but dislikes those who even talk about it. When his nephew came in he said “merry christmas uncle Scrooge and may God save you!” This quote was on page 3. His nephew, obviously tries to get along with his uncle, but Scrooge refuses to cooperate. On page 5 Scrooge and his nephew had argued which led to them talking about his nephew’s, marriage which Scrooge was unhappy with his marriage because when his nephew said “I fell in love” Scrooge replied very angrily by saying “You fell in love!”. The way Scrooge said “you fell in love”! is obviously in a hateful manner.

After the ghost of christmas past had came to Scrooge he went to sleep for a couple hours, but then the ghost of christmas present had came to him. The ghost of christmas present took him to Bob’s house his clerk. He saw that Bob’s son Timmy was dying. He saw they were living poorly, but Bob still respected Scrooge even though Scrooge never gave him enough money for his medical expenses. Bob had made a toast to Scrooge, but his wife did not want to do the toast since she didn’t like Scrooge. They went to his nephew’s house. He saw that they were playing a game like finish the sentence. He saw that his nephew did like Scrooge, but didn’t like the way he lives and all the people at the party started to talk bad about Scrooge and he realized that he is hated by many. They then went to a back alley. Scrooge saw it was a family that was homeless who were eating scraps and wearing scraps. He said why are these people out here and the spirit had shown him two children, ignorance and doom. They represented Scrooge’s personality. He realized that his personality was
