Haunted houses are very important to the history of Halloween. If we didn’t have them it just wouldn’t be the same. They won’t be around for too long, but where did the tradition of haunted houses come from? Halloween is known as the season of fright and fear. One reason of the haunted houses were made is for scaring people and entertainment too. People dress up and use machines to scare people in the haunted houses. Wax Museums, which were pretty gruesome, and now have really realistic figures that look like they could actually be alive. Haunted houses started being popular in the 1930’s. This happened because adults wanted to distract the pranksters and tricksters from doing bad things. They would have these in their basements or attics
