Dinosaurs roamed the earth 165 million years ago and became extent about 65 million years ago (Zillmer 11). Dinosaurs came from small reptiles and eventually some became birds. When it comes down to dinosaurs many people wonder if dinosaurs and humans coexisted together. There are people who say they did but even more who say they didn’t. Due to the different opinions, more scientists and anthropologist have embarked on doing more research into finding more evidence to support if the theory is true or false. According to the authors of Have Dinosaur and Human Fossils Been Found Together? and Eric Lyons, M.Min. of Men and Dinosaurs Coexisted they have significant evidence to back up the claim that Dinosaur and Humans lived together. The main …show more content…
I have looked over evidence relating to the time frame, fossils, and the location. The information has come from different anthropologist that have written books and articles related to the theory. In the next paragraph, I will talk about what a person or anthropologist should find to back up the theory and then compare it to evidence that has been found. Dinosaurs were one of the largest land creatures ever to live in wildlife.. Dinosaurs walked on the earth for about 165 million years, during a time in the history called the Mesozoic Era also known as the Dinosaur era (Padian 417). It is hard to picture how long this was, until we relate it with ourselves. Mays says it best as to what archology is and why it is important. “Archaeology is about people and how they lived in the past. The study of the physical remains of those people should therefore be a central component of archaeological enquiry” (Mays xiii). Since archology is studied it helps date bones and therefore give us an idea of how long they have been here on earth. Humans have lived on Earth for less than two million years and are a part of the Late Cretaceous era. Since dinosaurs are from a …show more content…
According to Martian the author of “Dinosaurs without bones: dinosaur lives revealed by their trace fossils” the definition of fossils is “prehistoric animals and plants that have been petrified, or “turned into stone”” (Martin 1). Fossils tend to be found in sedimentary rock. Martin states that “Though fossils are exceptional in igneous rocks, they are the rule in sedimentary deposits. Sediment literally mean “Something that settles” … (Martin 19). Since this is true the best fossils have been found in this type of rock. Sedimentary rock is made of dust, sand, mud, and other materials that have settled under water and from this they have created different strata’s (Martin 19-20). Since this is how different strata are formed, in order for dinosaurs and humans to have lived together there would have to have been fossils of each fond in the same strata. That is something that hasn’t been found even though thousands of dinosaur fossils can be found throughout the fossil record. People who believe that they did live together have three main reasons as to why this hasn’t happened. The first reason is that it just hasn’t been discovered
