Head Trauma Case Study

On May 7th of 2007, I almost lost my older brother to head trauma. My brother Ben was playing flag football in P.E. when him and a kid named J.D. Olson had collided heads. Ben went to the office because he was not feeling very well. My mom had received a call from the school about Ben and his accident. The office had called my mom and explained to her what had happened and insisted that Ben should be taken home. My mom was on her way to pick up Ben when the office calls her again and told her that Ben was nauseous and was being unresponsive. Immediately my mom calls 911 and sends them to the high school to take my brother to the hospital. They had taken Ben to Good Sams’ in Puyallup. When Ben reached the hospital, they had pulled him straight to the back knowing his situation and did X- Rays on his head. My mom reached the hospital trying to figure out where Ben was, what room he was in and what was going to happen. When my mom was finally able to speak to a doctor …show more content…

When my parents and grandmother reached the hospital, the doctors had already taken Ben back to begin surgery. A few hours later the surgery was a success and my brother had survived. The doctors had begun to relieve my family with a therapist. They reminded us how lucky we were that Ben was alive because if he didn’t reach the hospital within a certain time frame then we would have lost him and I would have lost my older brother and our lives would have been changed forever. After I graduate I plan on going into the nursing program and getting my Bachelors as an RN. After my brother had his accident I feel the need to help out and return the favor to hospitals and maybe someday I will be a nurse who saves a loved one 's life and nurses them back to their healthy selves. Becoming a nurse does have its sad times but at the end of the day I would know I tried my hardest and gave it my all to help everyone that I
