Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to become a superhero. As I grow old, I realized that not all superheroes wear capes. Particularly the people who work in the healthcare setting. I call these heroes the healthcare professionals. Wanting to be apart of this community led me to join the Health Care Rotation Program. The program gives students like me the opportunity to become a hero, a health care professional, later on in life. By knowing the rules and techniques in the hospital, helping out the members of the community, and maintaining a professional attitude as a health care member; I successfully became a member of the healthcare discourse community. James Bowie High School offered Health Care Rotation, a program for students who wanted to become healthcare professionals. During a week of rotation at Kindred Nursing Home, I met a lady with Alzheimer's. Her loneliness was one hell of a drug. Seeing others’ pain and hardship was the experience only the members of the Health Care Rotational program can have. The life of a health professional never concern about just sympathy but also the capability to stay professional. The program administrator made it clear to us that sympathizing a person is not a bad thing to do but crying as a health care professional is a bad thing to do. As an individual with a strong mentality, sympathy and the power to lend out a helping hand, I visited the nursing home every week to help out the residents. I wanted to be strong and brave, so I am capable of taking care of the residents and helping out the community.
