During the Civil War time both sides The Union and The Confederate were overwhelmed by battle and disease. Different type of people came to the calling to help heal a country and advanced medicine into the modern age like doctors and surgeons. From the stench of festering substance wafting through unsanitary and swarmed camps to the unglamorous ailments of syphilis, our progressive scorn toward Civil War healing practices is for the most part supported.
