2. I think that most health educators/promoters have a sound philosophical base. Everyone already has a view of the world, and those that want to work in health promotion are likely to have a personal philosophy of wanting to learn how to help people. I believe that the most important philosophy when addressing a health problem is the behavior change philosophy. In order for someone to change their behavior they need to be motivated to change themselves. By setting goals, using behavioral contracts, and self-monitoring you can hopefully influence someone to live a healthy lifestyle on their own.
