When it comes to choosing your profession, and planning your career, you can never do too much research. It is important to make sure that you know what is expected of you and what steps you should take to ensure that you are well educated and prepared in every way possible. This can help solidify your interest and success in your future career goals.
Healthcare administrators, also known as medical and health services managers, have a number of responsibilities that they may be asked to do depending on where they work. As a healthcare administrator, these personality traits include attention to detail, integrity, dependability, cooperation, leadership, adaptability and flexibility. The skills needed as a healthcare administrator can be categorized as basic skills, people and technology systems and problem solving skills. The basic skills include talking to others and considering the pros and cons of ways to solve a problem. People and technology systems skills include picking the best options by considering all of the pros and cons and measuring how well a system is working and ways that it can be improved. Lastly, problem solving skills include recognizing that there is a problem and identifying the best way to solve it (mynextmove.org). After reviewing the personality profile that I completed, I would say that the traits that I have are attention to detail, integrity, dependability and cooperation. The skills that I need to work on are leadership and adaptability. I believe that I will become better at these skills as I continue with my education and prepare myself for some of the obstacles that I will face. When it comes to career goals, the most obvious goal for me is to complete my education and obtain my Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration. I would like to perfect my skills as a leader and manager, as well as improve upon analysis and critical thinking. I would like to become more educated on policies and regulations, community health issues and finances.
