1 Throughout my childhood I always was fascinated by medicine.

When my daughter was born in the breech position, we were faced with the challenge of

dysplasia. Following her prognosis and subsequent treatment, I was inspired by Diagnostic

Radiography and determined to follow it as a career.

It is a skilled profession that allows you to work in a challenging and thriving medical

environment. Additionally, I am highly inspired by the pleasure of being the person who makes
7
the complicated diagnosis and has the ability to make a positive difference in patient care. I

I understand the importance and benefits of reflective practice; it allows you not

just to learn from experience and continued professional development, but is an excellent

method of producing highly capable practitioners who maintain and improve performance
17
standards as well as progress with innovations in their health profession.

In order to support my application, I have applied for work experience in the Radiology
19
department at Queen's Hospital in Romford.

My current job as a Healthcare Assistant enables me to communicate with and listen effectively
21
to a wide variety of people, and I have become increasingly comfortable talking to patients.

My role also means I help patients do the normal, everyday tasks that we take for granted,
23
such as changing themselves, or administering medication.

I believe in my strong communication skills, strength, intuition and ability to problem solve,
25
which are all important to the role of Diagnostic Radiographer, have been well developed
26
through my current job.
