Policy and politics are interrelated with one another. If policies are the results of choices made to accomplish an objective, then politics is the means to those ends. The product of policy and politics is the legislation of laws and budget. Politics is the preparation and principle of influencing other people through the dissemination of power and influence and the conflict between the allocations of resources. As a healthcare provider, there are four major areas wherein we may be asked to influence outcomes. In the workplace, it is necessary to understand the basic legal and moral values that influence the work environment which includes the legal relationship between the healthcare provider and the patient. The healthcare industry is faced with challenging circumstances concerning ethical problems therefore, ethical behaviour patterns must implemented. There are a lot of varieties of settings with regards to workplace, and these include, hospitals, clinics, schools, military services, government agencies, and nursing homes and all of these are political ones because resources are …show more content…
These groups also provide training and workshops for nurses interested in learning political involvement. Working with these groups increases the chances for the advocacy to be effective, provides an environment where resources can be shared, and enhances networking and learning. Nurses can be effective in these activities by serving on public policy or legislative work groups, providing testimonies and preparing position statements. Nurses are also influential by working with other interest groups not just in nursing organizations because, they become powerful players in policy debates. Also, when these organizations join coalitions, their influence is
