Love Is Never Silent When watching the film, “Love is Never Silent,” I felt sadden for Margaret, because as a kid living with deaf parent in a hearing world, she was forced to grow up fast. It must have been hard on her when she wasn’t able to share the knowledge that her parents are deaf, and have to code switch every time, never in between; never a balance. She must have felt out of place, alone in fact, as no one she knew was struggling like her, no one she can relate to. But luckily she got Mr. Petrakis, who I thought played a crucial role in her life.

It is intended to inform viewers about the criminalization of African Americans and the United States prison boom. 13th uses rhetorical devices in its claim to persuade the viewers by using exemplum in the opening seconds of the film. President Barack Obama presents statistics, saying “the United States is home to 5% of the world’s population but is home to 25% of the world’s prisoners.” Also the film uses a hyperbole in talking about the movie Birth of a Nation produced in 1915 which portrays a black man as a violent savage who will kill white women.
I watched Good Luck Charlie for my bias assignment. It is a Disney series about a family that likes to have fun but also has everyday problems. This episode was about the mother going back to work after having her fourth child and she needed help from her family to keep an eye on the baby. The second child is a girl name Teddy and she was pretty much put in charge over her dad while her older brother got to go out with his friends she also wanted to go on a date that night but her dad made the boy come to the house for the first date. The third son named Gabe felt that his family forgot about him ever since the new baby came, his older brother and sister insured him they all still love him.
The movie chosen was “On Golden Pond.” The life transition and developmental issue present in the couple are the father 's cognitive decline and age-related memory loss, familial conflict and divergence between father and daughter. Norman and Ethel appear hunched and infirm which is a sign of osteoporosis or general bone density decline, and their hair is gray and thinning. Ethel seems to be in better shape than Norman. The movie is filled with conflict and resolution.
In the movie Silver Linings the actions are Pat Solatano, Sr., Dolores Solatano, Pat Solatano Jr., and Tiffany Maxwell. In the movie Pat Jr’s mother (Dolores Solatano) came and got him from the Karel Psychiatric Facility, in Baltimore, Maryland without Pat Sr., knowing that he was coming home. After the release from his mother he had to live with his parents in Philadelphia. He was supposed to be in the facility for a minimum of 8 months for court orders. The reason the court was involved was because he beat up Nikki, the love of his live.

Both of these films center around what we love the most: food. From sushi in “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” to potatoes, cabbages and grapes in “The Gleaners and I” there are many good foods invading the screens that fill the appetite of the audience, and fills their knowledge with a different perspective on food. But each director has their own style of projecting to the audience their ideas either through scenes of a master sushi chef at work, or in the case of Agnes Varda by expressing her peculiar personality to show that she is part of the gleaning community that finds beauty
I Stay by Gayle Forman, is about a girl, Mia, that has everything. The perfect boyfriend, a loving family and an amazing friend, kim, who she loves and cares for. The movie portrays her life and relationship with Adam as more realistic than the book because the things they go trough are more relatable to real life as a teenager, but all that came to came to an end on a sudden tragic snow day. Mia and Teddy had the day off from school along with her parents who took the day off from work to spend with their kids. As they were driving in the car on their way to their friends house they hit a snow patch.
A movie like precious is an exact portrayal of black America. It involves advocate whose problems come from race and culture. Self-encouraging/empowering for women of color. Compare to the movie and society, both suffer poverty, internalized racism, government agencies, schools failing to understand situations. Precious shows pain existing for a large portion of the population that don’t have the recourses to civilly argue their case.
Thank you for smoking turned out to be a very interesting movie. Naylor had one job to do and that was to pay the mortgage. You can clearly see that Naylor knows his smooth talking to encouraging smoking is wrong. I believe his “change of heart” was based on moral and ethical reasons. A key factor in his “change of heart come toward the end of the movie when he was asked if he would let his son smoke a cigarettes when he turned 18 and you could see that he was slow to answer the question.

‘A Time to Kill’ is a movie that depicts the racial tensions between the white and black Americans in the past. The movie revolves around the life of Jake Brigance, a lawyer, and Carl Lee Hailey, as he struggles with the law and racism after seeking justice for his raped 10-year old daughter. As Carl Lee approaches Brigance for help with his case, they both face the challenge of blurring the lines between the white and black Americans and helping Carl Lee escape the long arms of the law. In the movie, racism, negligence of one side of the story, and objectivity are applied.
