Although she is not the only character in the novel, who is represented as a typical gothic character. Her doomed lover, Heathcliff deputizes the right values to be seen as a true character dressed with the characteristics of gothic style. His personality is far more complex than his lover, Catherine’s. He embodies the tragical, anti-hero, whose being is quite mysterious, though his existence can be questionable. He was found on the street by Mr. Earnshaw, which is not a typical everyday story of someone’s life. It can provokes the readers’ interest about him in connection with his escape from the street. As a character of Gothic anti-hero he must destroy everything even the things he loves the most. He cannot do anything to save his love for the only woman of his life, because it was written in his system not to be able to appreciate the values of love. His affection for Catherine is the most dangerous aspect of both their lives, and it causes the ultimate destruction of the woman. She is the only desire of his life, but he cannot change his behavior. Catherine’s heart gets broken into a thousand little pieces by his return, and it cannot be fixed anymore. After the sensational event the woman cannot be able to live another day longer with this enormous pain into herself. She tells Heathcliff “You have killed me - and thriven on it, I think.”(Bronte 1847, 167). The death of Catherine shocks him, and as the intentions of Heathcliff never mean to hurt that much her to cause her dead. Obviously he never wanted to take part in the death of Catherine, because she was the perfect woman to him. There is the chance that he may intend to make a little suffer to her, but he never wanted to see
