“You are going on a journey!” Anyone would be thrilled after hearing those words, specially coming from a palm reader. Such is the case when Anjali tells Hector that he will embark on a life changing journey, at first he questions her while simultaneously looking excited like a child. He eventually decides to heed the prediction and goes off on a journey across the world in order to help his patients with more efficiency and to understand the concept of happiness with more depth while inadvertently seeking his own. In his quest, Hector stumbles upon the realization that happiness is subjective, not something that has a universal meaning. Once he engages the head monk in conversation Hector asks him how are they so happy when all of their life they were persecuted and faced plenty of hardships, but he simply says that it is because he lived through so much that he can be happy. After saying that, the monk then proceeded to help Hector formulate one of his pointers on his journal, that "Avoiding unhappiness is not the road to happiness.” Simply by just not focusing on evading misfortune and let life run its course, one will eventually reach happiness. Shortly after this encounter takes place and Hector returns to Skype his girlfriend, the head monk fetches him to go see the wind with him. As Hector stands under a series of “flags” that are extremely diverse in colors, the wind is blowing and all of the monks are running around laughing cheerfully while Hector stands there confused. The monks were feeling happy because the wind was blowing and the little flags were waving about, this simple thing brought them joy and Hector failed to understand why.
