Helen Keller: Overcoming Obstacles

Obstacles are hard to overcome but when they are faced they become the past and the future will contain confidence. I know when I have to face my obstacles I try to hide. I wonder what it would be like not to face them, but they can't be pushed. They have to be faced and passed because if not they are going to show up later. If they show up later what is going to happen then, they can't just be pushed them away they are still going to be there. I have one person that pops into my head when I see success, Helen Keller because she went above and beyond. Helen Keller went above expectations for herself and expectations of others.
Helen Keller was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama in 1880, two years later she got an illness that left her blind and deaf. She didn't really have any communication with the world until she was 6 and her mother sought out help. Her mother searched, got referrals, and eventually found a teacher named Anne Sullivan. Helen was interested in learning from Sullivan but then started to refuse the lessons. Anne realized that something had to change for Helen to concentrate and learn, so she suggested that Helen disconnect with her family so she could concentrate on learning. Helen had to learn how to speak to the outside world and communicate so others could understand.

I don’t think I’ve really faced an obstacle, but many problems. I know that if an obstacle ever occurs that I will look at Helen Keller, and hope to handle my obstacle like her. I hope I can rise through my obstacle, and inspire people like Helen. I know that my obstacle is more than likely not going to be as big as Helen's obstacles, but hope I can remember her determination and persevere. I will always look up to Helen Keller, she was and continues to be, an inspiration. Helen overcame her obstacles and they became her past, she was able to face her obstacles and pass
