The Story of My Life, autobiography of Helen Keller was written by her when she was in third year at Radcliffe College. She talked about her early life and about her experiences with Anne Sullivan with every minute detail of her life. This book was first published in 1903 and it divided into three parts. In first two parts, Helen Keller’s childhood story and extracts from her letters shows a complete picture of her life showing all the hurdles of her life. Her educational information was not explained by her. Some information was there in this book. We can also relate her autobiography with the letters of her teacher. Miss Anne Mansfield Sullivan. Miss Sullivan’s letters can be supplemented to Keller’s autobiography. Other than these accounts of Miss Keller’s personality and achievements are not much important but still these can also be helpful for building a true picture of the traits of Keller and the nature of work which she and her teacher have done.
Helen Keller is regarded as a heroic figure who overcome from extreme hurdles which came in her way to accomplish her goals in her life, both personally and publically. She fell ill with a fever and she was left with her blindness and deafness at the age of nineteen months. Despite of her blindness and deafness, Keller was able to learn how to read and speak as a result of her courage, hard work and motivation given by her teacher, Anne Sullivan.
