The book “ The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” is about an african american women named Henrietta Lacks . Henrietta was a tobacco farmer who didn’t receive a higher education than the six grade . She was later diagnosed with cervical cancer and was treated at John Hopkins Hospital . Henrietta cancers cell was collected by the doctors at John Hopkins and were being tested. After being tested scientist found something that their was something unusual about her cells . Scientist profound that Henrietta Lacks had something unique. Henrietta had later died because of the cervical cancer. After Henrietta died something that belonged to her survived. Henrietta cells were immortal. The HeLa cells has developed and made many vaccines including polio , herpes , leukemia, influenza, hemophilia, Parkinson's disease and many more medical usage. The cells had helped scientists in various ways that had advance them to make and find more vaccines from the HeLa cells still till day.The negative effects of the Hela cells are the lack of informing Henrietta and her family of managing her cells. The Lack’s family did not find out about Henrietta’s cells until 20 years later which they had already condoned her cells. The Lack’s family had no chance of discovering that the Hela cells were Henrietta's cells. Rebecca Skloot discovered about the Hela cells and wanted to learn more about Hela. Rebecca wanting more information decided to gather more and found where Hela was first located and researched at . Rebecca proceeding to find more information had lead her to John Hopkins Hospital , finding who the cells belonged to she accelerated to find the Lack’s family . Finding the Lack’s family Rebecca wanted to inform them. After , informing the Lack’s she began to help them with the profits of the multi million dollar selling from the HeLa cells. The lack’s were poor and indeed in help needing medical insurance while then scientist and doctors are making millions of dollars from the cell tissue that was not issued to them without any infomal
