Henry Ford greatly contributed to the American people. He should be classified and remembered as a Captain of Industry because of his industrial contributions such as the revolutionization of how people used transportation and by helping increase the economy through his 1908 Model T automobile. Henry Ford set great examples for other businessmen with his creation of the assembly line,making the production of industrialized goods faster and easier. Henry Ford used tactics to build his empire such as making the Model T affordable for everyone,good wages for his labor, and buying out other shareholders. With his great generosity and acts of philanthropy,he paid his employers more than average and also supported the people(affordable prices).
The invention of the assembly line made it faster and easier to complete the build which made the cars more affordable. “Ford's greatest contribution to the automobile industry was the development of the moving assembly line” (Ricci Paragraph 7). Before the assembly line, it took 14 hours to complete one Model T but with his new invention, it took only 1 hour and 33 minutes. This eventually led to prices overall Model T prices lowering to only 360 dollars. Henry Ford also paid his workers better wages, more than twice as much as other car manufacturers.

Henry Ford’s advancements in assembly-line automobiles manufacturing made the Model T the first affordable car for a majority of Americans. For the first time owning a car became a reality for average American workers, and not just the wealthy. More than 15 million Model Ts were built in Detroit and Highland Park, Michigan, and they were also assembled at a Ford plant in Manchester, England.

In fact, the average price of a car in the early 1900s was around $850 - a crazy amount of money for most people at the time. However, all of that changed thanks to the Assembly Line, which revolutionized the way cars were manufactured. The Assembly Line made it possible for cars to be produced more quickly and efficiently, which brought down the cost of production dramatically. When Henry Ford invented the Assembly Line and hired about 50k people it sped up the time to build a Model T. It even lowered the price of the Model T to $300. Henry Ford paid each person $5 if they worked 8 hours.
This attracted Ford a lot of attention from investors, who were willing to fund the projects for the next seven years, and that is where he founded his own company which he called ‘The Detroit Automobile Company’, later named ‘The Henry Ford Company’ in 1899. Over the course of three years, his investors grew impatient with Ford, as he was busy perfecting his own designs until he eventually left to form his own company yet again, called ‘The Ford Motor Company’. Ford wanted his vehicles to be perfect for the consumer, and after a month of working in his new company, he finished his newest creation, known as a ‘Model-A’. The factory that made these cars were operating at a snail’s pace, only producing a handful of cars a day. This led Ford to try and invent new ways to make the process of building cars much quicker and cheaper, so that it can be bought by the consumer at a reasonable price by means of producing so many of them, and so, the ‘Model-T’ was invented, which was an extremely successful

An additional precedent that he is known for reforming was worker’s wages. . At the time, most companies had only paid their workers 2 dollars for an 8 hour work day. Henry Ford paid workers more than double that, at 5 dollars for an 8 hour work day.
Although there were already automobiles available, the ones who owned them were the wealthy, due to their high expenses. Due to the creation of the automobile it was Ford that was recognized as changing the view of American. Change Throughout The Progressive Era Although Henry Ford did not invent the world’s first automobile, he managed to create a new popular market at the start of the 20th century. The Ford Motor Company, established in 1905, introduced the Model T car in 1909. A total of 15 million cars had been sold by mid-1927, the year they were discontinued in order to introduce the new later version. The Model T was so successful mainly because it appealed to the mass market; the cars were both reliable, and easy to maintain (Ford Motor Company).
Many American now began to fight for better wages so they could participate in the purchasing of the consumer goods such as the Model T car. Ford was creating a new class of living for the United States not only were they compensating their employees better than most companies but he was lowering the price of cars so that American would be able to purchase them on their income. After the creation of the assembly line Ford could lower the price of his cars by over half from $700 in 1910 to $316 in 1916. The car could be purchased by the working class of America.
As he was designing new designs in his spare time, he finally found a car that would take over the car industry. This car that separated Henry Ford was the Model T. This design made it affordable for the middle class. All before cars were just the toys that the higher class could afford. Before the Model T was perfected the Model B was on the market and this car catered to people who had extra funds because of the size being larger.
Within one year in 1914 Ford had made a huge number of 306 thousand cars which was more than all the cars made by all the car industries put together, which hit he industry with a shock as this company was making huge number of cars as they had the technology to make 8 cars in the time of 1 in any other manufacturing company. In order for Henry Ford to meat his goal of making his cars sturdy and cheap he firstly cut all options and extra order and made the Model T without any options and in one color (Black) in order to cut costs and sell it for cheaper, it was sold for $850 which is around $22000 equivalent to today. Although Henry Ford began the Ford Motor Company in 1903, it was not until 1908 that his business began to grow and become successful. In 1908 Ford first released the Model T automobile at a price of $825.00. He was able to offer the vehicle at such a low price because in the process of producing the Model T he also developed and perfected the moving assembly line. This reduced the assembly time by over fifty percent, which in turn reduced the price of the automobile. The Ford Motor Company has continued to grow and after over a century of being in business it is now worth around $199 billion.
