On December 1, 1913, Henry Ford revolutionized the industrial age with his creation of the assembly line, which increased the efficiency of building the Model­T car by cutting out extravagances and having specialized workers to reduce waste and increase the quality of the final product.Each member of the assembly line played an important in the success of the final product and without any one of them the product would be in complete. My pursuit to become a doctor mirrors the process of the assembly line. Much like Ford’s assembly line, I also started out as a hollow vessel and added unique experiences and obtained essential lessons which transformed me from a simple college student to a potential doctor. As a leader in the classroom and the lab, I encountered various questions that not only challenged how I viewed certain concepts but aided me in applying them to ways that would make a better doctor. My other leadership experience was as a vice president and then later, president of the
Pre­Medicine Society at Rutgers University, I harnessed leadership qualities that aided me in managing large groups. In continuing with my goal to aid those in need, through the
Pre­Medicine Society, I also helped organize an event that would aid the hunger crisis in Africa.
This was a large event that called for the leaders of multiple organizations to cooperate in order to achieve the final goal, much like how doctors ask one another for consultations and work together to treat the patient. The invaluable lessons I have gained in leadership experiences helped me on my way to becoming a doctor by instilling in me the determination and skills necessary for a strong leader.
