Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan. His parents where William and Mary Ford, he had four siblings. As a young child Ford was very intelligent, his dad gave him a pocket watch as a teen and he took it apart and reassembled it by himself. Ford was known for his leadership skills and mechanical ability. Later he was known as the watch repair man. He lived on a farm his whole life until his mother passed away in 1876, so he decided he didn’t want to live on a farm anymore. In 1879 he left home to go work as a apprentice machinist. After a while he moved on and started working for the Detroit Dry Dock Co. In 1882 he went back home. When he arrived back home he started working on the farm again. Later he became good at working with the Westinghouse Portable Steam Engine. He became known for how good he was and was later hired by Westinghouse to work on their steam engines. Henry being excited and motivated in 1898 he made a second Quadricycle. In 1899 Ford quit his job and started his own business called Detroit Automobile Company. In the beginning the cars weren’t doing so well in the market and they where forced to close down. Ford started working harder and didn’t quit, eventually in 1901 he created a 26 horse power automobile. He got with the stockholders of the Detroit automobile Company and created the Henry Ford Company. Ford and other stockholders had issues so ford left that business and it was renamed Cadillac Automobile Company. After the years of being away from the businesses he continued and created several automobiles, even race cars like the “999” Racer. The man that changed America was Henry Ford.
