The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the history of the world. It began in the United States when the stock market crashed in October 1929. Everybody was sent into a panic and millions of investors were wiped out. Unemployment levels began to rise after consumer spending and investment dropped, while stock prices continued to increase. Companies started to lay off their workers, and soon nearly thirteen to fifteen million people in America were without jobs.
The Great Depression left everyone in shambles. This was an economic crisis and period of low business activity in the U.S. Beginning with the stock-market crash in October, 1929. After watching Cinderella Man, we learned that this economic drop caused James J. Braddock, a famous boxer before the crash, to lose everything. Yet, later gave citizen hope that times would get better.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, a champion in his own ways, was a great person who shaped America throughout the depression into what we now call home. Roosevelt changed America by declaring war on the depression because of the following:he is offering more jobs to the people who have none, he wants to help America, and he let them know that happiness doesn't lie in the possession of money. Roosevelt was a leader America had needed at the time and for years to come, but he couldn’t fix it all by himself; he needed the help of America’s homeowners and wealth distributors just as much as he needed the haggler’s. Roosevelt noted the job decrease in america and led a campaign to fix it.

he Great Depression was a time of huge economic downfall. During this time period people lost their homes, money, and everything they had ever earned. Millions of people were affected, including the middle and lower classes, who would just become poorer. People in upper classes, even dropped to the lower class. This downfall began on October 29, 1929, and the leading cause was the crash of the stock market.
The Great Depression was a devastating period in United States History, the economy collapsed, and a staggering 25% of the population was unemployed. During this time, there were large wage disparity gaps that were very prevalent, there was no middle class, you were either wealthy or you were poor. It was hard for family life to continue, parents had to take up two and three jobs to make sure their kids were staying safe, and well. Most of these jobs were odd-jobs, and were temporary with no sense of security. It was a struggle to find work, and no job was too demeaning for you to do, because you may not find work again.

The Great Depression was without a doubt, a rough time for America and the American economy. Whilst the economy was severely damaged, it affected the people the most. The vast majority, if not all of the citizens had been forced into poverty, struggling to support themselves, where others have family to care for. A wide majority of the citizens resorted to getting multiple jobs. Yet despite this, those whom participated in multiple careers had no reliable income.
The Great Depression was a dark time in history where 13 million workers were jobless and companies were suffering. The Great Depression occurred in the 1930’s. Stock markets crashed, companies went out of business, and people were unemployed and poor. The president at the time, Herbert Hoover, was unsuccessful in his ability to stop the Great Depression which made lots of people head towards the president after him, Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR). FDR was successful and the Great Depression ended in 1939.

During the depression a lot of people lost their jobs which caused the unemployment rate to sky rocket to 14% of America’s population was unemployed, and the number would stay their till World War 2, and the depression started in the 1920’s. Middle class workers were hit the hardest in the depression. Most of the middle class citizens lost their jobs.
