One of Henry Thoreau’s great quotes is,“Our life is frittered away by details,” meaning that we spend most of our life focusing on small, inadequate details and forget to focus on the bigger picture. We forget to focus on the meaning of life and what it truly means to be alive. Emerson believes that the only way to figure this out is through nature. Thoreau spent a full year out of civilization to live a more simple life and to stop worrying about the little things. During my life I hope to find out what it truly means to be alive and what it takes to be one with nature. To begin, if I were to go live anywhere for a year I would go and stay at the tropical island of Bora Bora. The island is a beautiful tropical resort located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. This island’s main natural resource would be it’s tremendous amount of coconut trees. The coconuts would provide a nearly unlimited supply of food and water . I would start my day by waking up and going for a swim. Afterwards, I would come back to my hut and eat some coconuts. Once I am finished I would grab my snorkel and go out for a swim to see the coral reefs. Finally, I would finish my day surfing until the sun sets and go to bed to repeat the next day.
In the end, I would not leave the island until I found the answers I was looking for. Once I connect to nature and find out what it truly means to live I would leave. After staying there and figuring out my questions I would see the world as a whole different place. I would look at it differently and really think about what a blessing it is to be alive. In the future I would want to live life to the fullest and make every day a good day. No longer would I worry about the negatives in life but only the positives. Hopefully, from my stay at Bora Bora I would become a better person and live a much happier
