Herbert Clark Hoover was elected the 31st president of the United States of America. By the time he was 40 years old, he was a multimillionaire business man, but he wasn’t apart of politics until the start of World War 1. He was most known for the time of the Great Depression (Salzano 40-41). During Hoover’s childhood and early adulthood he accomplished many thigs even with a rough start. In the political world he was successful and helpful to many; however, his four year presidency didn’t go as smoothly. On August 10, 1874, Hoover was born in West Branch, Iowa (Joseph 8). His father, Jesse Hoover, was a blacksmith and also sold farm equipment. Hulda Minthorn Hoover was a Quaker religious leader/teacher. When Hoover was six years old, his dad died from heart troubles. Hulda supported the family by preaching and sewing. Unfortunately, she passed away from pneumonia and typhoid fever when Hoover was just nine years of age.
