Society has always expressed to women that they should be a certain size or have a certain skin color to be beautiful. For a while, size has always been the main part of a women's life, whether we realize it or not. Humanity has molded the way we look at ourselves just by showing articles and ads dealing with size and beauty. Dove recently launched a campaign called “Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty” focusing on a global vision of beauty being a source of confidence not a concern. It shows six beautiful women, and they are all unique in their own way. The women in this campaign show happiness even though they are of different sizes, and color. Tall and short, dark and light women are all beautiful no matter what. This is teaching girls of all ages how to be comfortable in their own skin. They are all wearing the same thing, however; the undergarments fit differently on each one. The sizes vary from this picture and you can tell that some are smaller and some are bigger, but the women are still smiling because they feel good about themselves. Recently launching a clothing line for plus size women, Jcpenny is focussing on why size shouldn't define who women are today. Five women from different journeys of life are all connected through plus size status and the history of being picked on. In their ad they discuss the different ways that many individuals have tried to tear them down, and stop them from participating in this world. The women proceed to talk about their life and the many questions they have asked themselves along the way. “Here I Am” is about visibility and the way these women represent the diverse community as well as the many different ways plus size women can succeed. Questions such as “Would I be better if I were thinner?” come up and their answer was “no, but it would be better if I were because I'm not”(). These women are now embracing what once hurt them, but is now motivating them. They believe that they can do anything, and they do not care what others think about them.
